Our funding and finances

Most of our activities are free to attend. We may invite donations to cover the cost of refreshments, room hire, liability insurance and similar expenses.

Some events have an admission fee when necessary to cover the event’s specific costs.

Donations from surplus funds to charities and other causes

We do not aim to be a fundraising organisation. However, we sometimes have surplus funds, and then we may make donations to causes chosen by the Committee. In 2024 we made donations to the following organisations:

Causes nominated by our speakers and quizmaster

We are very grateful to the local experts who give their time and skill to present our Sunday evening talks, and similarly to our quizmaster Russel who creates such entertaining challenges for our quiz nights. In recognition of their efforts, at each such event we invite donations to a cause nominated by the presenter. In 2024 these causes included:
