About the talk
Victoria Road resident Lindsay Turnbull is a plant scientist and ecologist whose work takes her to Aldabra, a remote coral atoll in the Indian Ocean, where she has worked with other scientists and the Seychelles government on conservation and plastic pollution cleanup as well as her research activities. She is Fellow in Plant Sciences and Michel Fellow at The Queen’s College.
Aldabra Atoll is a UNESCO world heritage site that belongs to Seychelles. Since independence, it has enjoyed the highest levels of protection and life is thriving; but nowhere is out of reach of human activities. In this talk Lindsay showed the wonders of Aldabra and shared stories of conservation success together with the challenges that remain.
Donations
The talk was free to attend, but - as usual for Seven Roads talks - we invited you to donate to a cause of the speaker's choice. Prof. Turnbull asked for donations to go to Seychelles Islands Foundation, an NGO that manages Aldabra Atoll and other sites in Seychelles.
